Tourism Recovery and Investment Plan

After over a year of KTIA and the tourism industry’s efforts in making the case to the General Assembly about the need for industry support, our proposed $75 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Tourism Recovery & Investment Plan has been passed by the legislature. The basic components of the funding package are described in the plan summary, below.

The enormous task now falls to the Kentucky Department of Tourism (KDT) to develop allocations and grant programs and a myriad of related details related to the funds’ distributions. Patience will now be important as that development moves forward, and KTIA has pledged its assistance to KDT in any way that would be helpful.

We will keep the membership apprised of developments as we become aware of them.

Over the year plus of efforts, KTIA members worked tirelessly in making the funding case to their legislators through committee testimony and one-on-one meetings, and with an enormous number of letters, emails and phone calls.

Below is a link to an archive of one of the communication strategies employed by KTIA, TRIP Notes, a legislator newsletter the association created expressly to keep the General Assembly’s attention focused on the KTIA plan and the continuing needs of the industry. TRIP Notes content was also used by KTIA members for information to include in their communication with legislators.
