KTIA Lobbying Team

The Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) works to promote Kentucky’s travel industry through legislative and governmental interaction, while promoting industry awareness with the General Assembly. With our network of 800 members reaching from Paducah to Pikeville and Covington to Cumberland, we represent every sector of the industry.

Because of the complex nature of working with Legislators and legislative staff, KTIA employs a full-time lobbying team to represent the interests of all our members and to guide us through the legislative process. This enables KTIA to have a continuous and professional presence at the Capitol.

A team from MML&K Government Solutions, which includes Sara Osborne and James Higdon, oversee KTIA’s lobbying efforts. They routinely meet with legislators to discuss the needs of tourism and review filed bills on a daily basis to determine their effect on travel and tourism, which enables the team to generate a plan of action with KTIA to meet the needs of our industry. This effort goes hand in hand with attending Committee meetings and preparing  weekly Legislative Reports for KTIA.

KTIA and it's lobbying team urge the General Assembly to continue protecting this industry from unnecessary legislative or regulatory burdens which make it difficult to sustain and grow one of Kentucky's most important industries, tourism.
