VIP HORSE COUNTRY EXPERIENCE AT DARLEY

Participants will be treated to a special VIP tour at Jonabell Farm, the American headquarters for HH Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin operation and home of the Darley stallions in America.
Godolphin is the global thoroughbred breeding and racing operation owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.  Darley, the stallion arm of Godolphin, currently stands 58 thoroughbred stallions in six countries around the world.  In America, the Darley stallions reside at Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, where the current roster includes Kentucky Derby winners ANIMAL KINGDOM and STREET SENSE, Preakness winner BERNARDINI, and perennial leading sire MEDAGLIA D’ORO.

The tour begins inside the farm office where you'll learn about the history of Jonabell Farm as well as the global scope of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s international breeding and racing operations.  We will then head outside for a stallion viewing, followed by a visit to the breeding shed and a walk through the stallion barns.  The tour also includes a stop at the gravesite of AFFIRMED, the 11th Triple Crown winner who lived at Jonabell for the last ten years of his life.

GOD'S PANTRY VOLUNTOURISM

The mission of God’s Pantry Food Bank is to reduce hunger in Kentucky through community cooperation making the best possible use of all available resources. Along with their network of nearly 400 partner programs, the Food Bank serves 50 counties of Central and Eastern Kentucky distributing $100 worth of food for every $10 donated. Last year, God’s Pantry Food Bank and its partners distributed nearly 30 million pounds of groceries, including more than 10 million pounds of fresh produce to more than 190,000 individuals. God’s Pantry Food Bank is a member of Feeding America.

During this first ever KTIA voluntourism event, volunteers will be helping the Food Bank repack bulk food into smaller packages that God’s Pantry partner agencies can utilize and pass out to clients in their 50 county service area. This process makes it tremendously easier for transportation and allows the partner agencies to receive food they normally would not be able to acquire.
